The rumour of TVS planning to acquire the British brand Norton Motorcycles. Well, it’s no longer a rumour now as TVS, has announced its acquisition of the iconic motorcycle brand named Norton motorcycles adding another feather to its brand cap.
TVS Motor already has an agreement with BMW Motorrad wherein it makes 310cc bikes branded under BMW (G310R & G310 GS) and its own Apache (RR 310) brands .The TVS Motor Company has completed the acquisition through one of its overseas subsidiary named Project 303 Bidco Ltd. The deal costs the Indian company a sum of INR 153 Cr. We can expect small-capacity cruiser motorcycles by TVS with a Norton badge exploring cruiser category of motorcycles in India. Especially given the fact that Triumph has joined hands with Bajaj to build low-cost motorcycles for India and global markets. Also, TVS could utilise Norton’s multi-cylinder tech to tap into the mid-capacity performance segment.
